Art & Architecture
Much of the art and architecture in Malaysia has come from traditional Indian, Chinese, and Islamic influences not to mention a lot of British Colonial style architecture as well. It is this mesh of cultures that makes a walk around the various cities an interesting activity in itself.
Some of the interesting places to visit for architecture would be Penang, Ipoh and Malacca. These areas are rich in culture and have many historical buildings that are maintained in good condition.
Malaysian art comes in various forms; the popular ones include colourful batik, woodcarvings, pewter work, and silverware. A visit to the Karyaneka on Jalan Conlay in Kuala Lumpur will give you a good idea of all the arts and crafts that are traditionally Malaysia. In this craft village you can witness the artists at work and you can learn how everything is done. This is an interesting activity that can fill your day with wonder.
